Mt. Pleasant, PA – The 26th annual gathering of Connecting Families-East was held on May 17-19, 2013 at Laurelville Mennonite Church Center. Connecting Families meets one weekend each year to connect families and individuals dealing with LGBT concerns and is associated with Brethren Mennonite Council (BMC). We welcome families, individuals and supporters who are on a Christian journey seeking greater understanding of sexual minority concerns. We represented churches from 12 different states and 1 Canadian province.
The weekend presenter was Pastor Sheri Hostetler, from First Mennonite of San Francisco, CA. Her theme was “Loving our Neighbors as Ourselves”. There was great singing, sharing and meaningful worship based on Genesis 38:12-19 and Mark 10:1-12. Several families shared their sacred coming-out stories.
