Come let us all unite to sing…

Pink  Menno is a motion of people who care about the Mennonite church and are working toward inclusion and welcome of LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer) people.  Some of us were visible witnesses for this hope at the Mennonite Church USA convention in summer 2009.

Now we’re gathering the voices of musicians to form a new witness.  We are inviting artists – Mennonite and Mennonite-connected, LGBTQ and LGBTQ-friendly – to submit recorded works which will be gathered into a community album of people singing for hope, inclusion, and peace for LGBTQ people.  These ONE VOICE CD compilations will play a central role in our continuing work: they’ll spread joy and hope for those who long for the day of full welcome in the church, they’ll be a celebration and affirmation of the community of LGBTQ Mennonites and the people who care for them,  and will help us raise funds.

You are invited to take part in this project by submitting original musical work.  Possible themes include:  loss and mourning, triumph, the struggle for justice,  stories of LGBTQ people, the color Pink, instrumental works.

Join your voice – humorous, sad, triumphant, joyful – to ours, and the voice of others who wish to sing out strong: “the love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell!”

Include with your submission your contact information, a photo, a two-sentence statement of why you are joining the ONE VOICE music project, and any website/email/other contact info you wish to have included in the CD insert.  We prefer to have works submitted by November 2009 so we can release the first volume of ONE VOICE by the end of 2009, but we will continue to accept submissions at any date for future volumes.  Send any questions to the email/address above or check pinkmenno.org for updates.

Agreement: By submitting music, you affirm that you have full legal rights to distribute and sell this work.  You grant Pink Menno the rights to reproduce and sell your work as part of a compilation CD.  (These rights are not exclusive, and you may continue to simultaneously use your submitted work however you wish.  Pink Menno retains no rights to the work other than the right to reproduce and sell it.)  Proceeds will be used by Pink Menno to continue to work for welcome & inclusion for LGBTQ people in the Mennonite church.  You understand that you won’t receive any compensation for your work.  All musicians appearing on the CD will receive a free copy of the CD and will have their photo, brief statement, and contact information printed in the CD insert.  Please contact pinkmenno.org with any further questions about this arrangement
